mural are among the urban arts which are created as an expressive instrument in order to transfer concepts. Actually, when a portrait is drawn on a city wall, it conveys more profound meaning than what appears. That is why, the harmony among color, form, theme and citizens' environment is of great importance.
Descriptive-analytical method has been used in this study and library documents were applied as data source. Ten mural of Central and West Tehran were selected randomly as the statistical population with decorative subject. The paper aims at finding the answer for the question of "is there the required harmony between the Tehran architecture and environment in one hand and the wall paintings' color, form and themes? To answer the question, we have used Gestalt theoretical framework in assessing the above mentioned harmony. The results revealed that most of the paintings are in harmony with the city environment, concerning the color and are not concerning the form and theme.
