Art of tiling in Iran extends its origins to the Elam civilization.
Tiling become a decorative art after Islam and particularly mongol, though the
best period for tiling art was the safavid period.
The safavid`s artists used the experiments of their forwards specially in the Seljuk
and Timorian portions. Albeit they joined their innovations to it. Hence we can
easily distinguish the safavid tiling from the other portions of Iran history now.
