“ Sookht” is a style that was used for decorating books
leather covers from past to now. “ Sookht” or “ Moraqqa-esookht”
was made by cutting leather to desired motifs and
sticking them beside each other. Innovation and prosperity of
these covers returns to Timmurid era in Iran. In the Qajar era
printing industry comes in Iran and from that time it was not
used due to being expensive and becoming prolonged. At the same time with influencing of European art the culture of using tableau was current
for decorating walls in Iran.
Haj Mirza Aqa Imami and a few of other masters used from this style for making
miniature tableau to protect sookht style.
On the other same basis “ Sookht tableau” was innovated by Haj Mirza Aqa Imami
At the end of Qajar and the early of Pahlavi period.
Introduction of sookht and its methods acquaintance with basis of innovation
sookht tableau and identification of its artists is of this investigation goal.
