Transcription of manuscripts was a common method
for reproducing books in different periods of Persian
paintings with regarding to importance of each book
in different periods. Painters have tried to increase
manuscripts based on their own age styles, but
there isn,t noticeable researches about methods of
copying manuscripts by painters.Quranic subjects
had expanded in various branches like: literature, science, history and religion. All
of these matters have chosen for illustrating books, so in reproducing manuscripts,
Quranic subjects have outstanding place. As a matter of fact, these books are
first typical in illustration of Quran. One of the noticeable books for reproducing
was Asar-ol-baqieh written by Abureihane Birooni which it,s first illustrated
manuscript belongs to Ilkhanid era. This manuscript has reproduced several times
in different periods. One of these copies belongs to Isfahan school in Safavid age
which is saved in Shahid Motahari,s high school library.Comparing the selected
illustrations between Ilkhanid and Safavid manuscripts caused to methods and
features of copying in the past has found out. In this essay has tried to answer to
these questions:
1-Have the artists tried to obey all the rules of main manuscript in their copies?
2-Did the artists kept all visual features of main manuscript in their copies?
3-Was the copied manuscript in it,s artistic works as valuable as main manuscript?
